Positano to Capri: a seasonal boat
The Amalfi Coast does not have a daily, year-round link to Capri. The boats follow a summer season. NLG lists its Positano to Capri and Amalfi to Capri lines from 1 April to 3 November 2026. Outside that window, plan the trip through Sorrento or Naples instead.
This guide is independent and sells no tickets. Times and fares below come from operator lists for 2026. They show what is published, not what runs on a given day, and weather can change a sailing.

How long is the crossing?
One example from a tour program, not a rule.
Examples from NLG's tour program
A tour from Salerno via Amalfi and Positano to Capri, running between 4 April and 3 November 2026, shows Amalfi at 10:30 a.m. and Capri at 11:30 a.m. That is 60 minutes. The same program shows Capri at 3:45 p.m. and Positano at 4:20 p.m., which is 35 minutes. Other sailings may take a different time.
Other operators
Alicost published a leaflet valid from 1 April 2026 with Capri connections in its coastal network. Without a checked route and day, do not assume winter service. Look at the timetable for your exact date.
The landing fee
Operators list €5 per person from 1 April to 31 October and €2.50 from 1 November to the end of March, added to the ticket. It applies on trips from the mainland to the island, not on the way back. Do not add it twice if the final price already includes it.
Ischia to Capri is a separate route
Ischia has more than one port, and they do not share a timetable.
Forio to Capri (Alilauro)
The adult fare is €30 and the child fare (ages 2 to 12) is €21. Extra luggage over the size and weight rule costs €3.50, a pet €5 and a bicycle €7. The page gives the season as 1 April to 3 November without a year. Departures from Forio are at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday to Friday and 8:40 a.m. every day except Monday. Return boats leave Capri at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 4:45 p.m. every day except Monday. The crossing time is not given.
Ischia Porto
The 2026 timetable lists a Capri to Ischia sailing at 9:50 a.m., weekends in April and May and daily from June to September. That does not replace a check of the opposite direction or of the Forio offer.
No single Ischia fare
There is no general "Ischia to Capri" price. The fare depends on the port and the operator.
Planning a day trip from the coast
The return times decide how much you can do.
The late return
The Positano list shows return boats from Capri at 9:45 a.m., 3:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. If you want the Blue Grotto, count the sea conditions and the queue. The cave closes in rough seas, and a booked transfer is not an entry guarantee. Plan the whole day around the last boat back.
Blue Grotto guide →Capri by bus and funicular
From Marina Grande, a funicular climbs to Capri town and a bus runs between Capri town and Anacapri. A travel portal lists the funicular at about 4 minutes per ride. Check the current bus timetable before you go.
Things to do on Capri →If the times do not fit
If the Amalfi Coast times do not fit your day, Sorrento and Naples have their own lines to Capri.
