Capri weather and the Naples reference
The table below uses the monthly averages for Naples from the Italian air force weather service, for 1971 to 2000. They are long-term statistics for the mainland city across the bay. They are not measurements taken on Capri, and they are not a forecast for 2026 or 2027. Hill and coastal spots on the island can feel different from the city.
Treat the numbers as a guide to the shape of the year: a hot, dry summer, a wetter autumn and a mild, damp winter. Air temperature is also not sea temperature, so do not use it to decide whether the water is warm. This site is independent and does not issue forecasts.

April to October: the main season
Boat trips around the island are offered from 1 April to 31 October 2026, and the NLG coastal ferries run to 3 November. Hotel price lists use this window as well. It is a usual window for visitors, not a legal season, and not every business is open the whole time.
May and June
Naples averages show highs of 23 and 26.7°C (73 and 80°F) with rainfall of 59 and 32.8 mm. The Gardens of Augustus list longer opening hours from 1 May, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., on a travel portal.
July and August
These are the hottest and driest months in the table. Villa San Michele opens from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from June to August, and the Monte Solaro chairlift runs evening rides on some Fridays and Saturdays in summer. Expect the most visitors, as well: a press report names up to 50,000 a day at peak times.
September and October
September is still warm at 26.6°C (80°F) on average, but rainfall rises to 88.9 mm. In October it reaches 135.5 mm. The Bagni Tiberio beach club gives both 15 and 30 September as its season end. A booking portal lists the La Fontelina restaurant as closed from 12 October 2026 to 17 April 2027 and Da Luigi until 25 April 2027.
November to March
Highs stay between 13 and 17°C (55 and 63°F), and November is the wettest month. Many services shrink: the Blue Grotto lists shorter hours (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. under the ministry's rules), the chairlift runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Villa San Michele is closed in February. Not every hotel closes, but some do. Confirm directly.
