Naples to Capri by ferry

Boats to Capri leave from two different ports in Naples. Fast passenger boats leave from Molo Beverello. Car ferries leave from Calata Porta di Massa. Not every connection sails from Beverello, so read the departure port on your ticket before you walk to the harbor.

Boats arrive at Marina Grande, the harbor of Capri. Crossing times depend on the type of boat: about 50 minutes by hydrofoil or catamaran, about 60 minutes by fast motor ship and about 80 minutes by conventional ferry. Fares below are published operator fares for 2026. They are base fares and the landing fee and booking fees come on top.

Fees and extras on top of the fare

These are the items that change the final price.

Landing fee

Operators list a landing fee of €5 per person from 1 April to 31 October and €2.50 from 1 November to 31 March, on top of the fare. The winter period ends on 30 March in one operator's list and on 31 March in another, so check the date if you travel at the turn of the season. The fee is charged for trips from the mainland to the island, not for the return. If a price already includes it, do not add it twice.

Booking charges

The Caremar tariff lists a 12 percent advance-sale charge, at least €1 per fare item, when you buy up to the day before. Online issue adds €1 per ticket. Other operators price this differently, so compare at checkout.

Luggage and pets

NLG charges €5 per piece of luggage and €5 for a pet, each way. Check your operator's rule before you board with a large bag.

Documents

Carry a valid passport or ID card for every traveler, including children, for the ferry and for the hotel check-in.

Beverello or Porta di Massa?

Molo Beverello is the pier for fast passenger boats such as hydrofoils, catamarans and fast motor ships. Calata Porta di Massa is the port for car ferries. As a foot passenger on a fast boat you look for Beverello. The ticket names the port.

You will not need a car on Capri. Under a regional decree of 25 March 2026, cars, motorbikes and mopeds of non-residents are banned from 30 March to 2 November 2026 and from 28 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. Rental vehicles and foreign plates are included, and a hotel booking alone is not an exception. Leave the car on the mainland.

Arriving at Marina Grande

The ferry lands at Marina Grande. A funicular runs from the port up to Capri town and the Piazzetta, a ride of about four minutes according to a travel portal. Buses connect Capri town with Anacapri. In the town centers you walk.

Plan the return trip before you leave. If you add a late visit to the Blue Grotto, make sure your ticket and the last departure fit. Hours of the last sailing change with the season and the weather, and rough sea can stop boats.

Naples airport is due to close in November 2026 for runway renewal, according to a notice from the airport operator of 21 September 2026. An earlier notice from a municipality named 10 to 30 November. Check the final dates with your airline and do not rely on a smooth flight and ferry connection that month.
